Exhibition Catalogue «Jean-Michel Othoniel - Cosmos or the Ghost of Love», presented in Toulouse (28 june 2025 - 4 january 2026).

To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of its designation as European Capital of Culture, the City of Avignon commissioned Jean-Michel Othoniel. Following in the footsteps of visitors, the catalogue takes readers on a photographic journey through the city.

The artist is staging a gigantic artistic constellation in the city of the popes, centred on the theme of passionate love. With this exceptional exhibition, spread across 10 unique locations, Jean-Michel Othoniel will present more than 260 works for Avignon at the Palais des Papes, on the Pont d'Avignon, at the Musée du Petit Palais–Louvre in Avignon, at the Musée Calvet, at the Musée Requien, at the Musée Lapidaire, at the Couvent Sainte-Claire, at the Bains Pommer, at the Collection Lambert and on the Place du Palais.

The artist has created works that reveal themselves from one place to another, combining sculpture and painting, bricks and beads, astrolabes and fountains, gold and glass, totems and infinite knots.

The catalogue takes us on a photographic journey through the city, highlighting the relationships between the works and their setting. A romantic pilgrimage where the past is reinvented through the artist's eyes. Interview between Jean-Michel Othoniel and Éric de Chassey. Texts by Aubin Arroyo, Michel Zink, Sophie Fontanel and René de Ceccaty. Photographs by François Deladerrière and Jean-Philippe Robin.
