Catalogue of the exhibition Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman: Haute Couture, Design, Art, presented at the Cité de la Mode et de la Dentelle in Calais and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Calais (13 June 2026 – 3 January 2027).
The haute couture garments created by Maurizio Galante since the 1990s and the works of art and design conceived and developed with his partner Tal Lancman since 2003 give shape to a remarkable world, filled with forms and textures that engage our senses and stir our emotions.
Guided by a sense of wonder, Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman cast an amused eye over a world full of surprises, revealing its unexpected qualities with precision and generosity.
Each of their creations is a true ‘conversation piece’ in both senses of the term: born of creative dialogues between different crafts, whose applications they reinvent, these intriguing works invite dialogue and foster an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.
The spirit of Haute Couture is palpable here, in a constant quest for excellence and for pushing boundaries. Here, the art of dressmaking, weaving and embroidery transcends textiles to embrace all materials.
Feathers, pearls, ceramics, straw, lace, textured silks, metal, glass and leather are thus transformed. They become elements that move and quiver, turning garments and objects into animated sculptures – all ‘objects of desire’.
