Catalogue of the Giacometti / Huma Bhabha exhibition, presented at the Institut Giacometti, Paris (6 February - 24 May 2026).
Contemporary Pakistani-American artist Huma Bhabha shares Alberto Giacometti's conviction that, since the earliest civilisations, ‘everything revolves around the human body’.
Like him, she is struck by the beauty of ancient Egyptian art in its obsession with representing the movement from life to death and from death to life.
In her works, Bhabha creates a dialogue between European, Middle Eastern and African civilisations, modern art and contemporary popular culture.
In this book, which echoes the exhibition designed for the Giacometti Institute, Bhabha's new and old works—standing figures, sculpted heads resembling body fragments, and drawings—are humorously juxtaposed with Giacometti's iconic works.
