This new book reveals the hidden side of François Delaroziere's monumental creations, their point of origin. It can be based on the geographical features of a place, a local legend or a mythological tale. Invariably, these sources of inspiration are embodied in a drawing that contains the artist's dream and story.
This book, which wends its way between storytelling and sketchbook, opens the breach to the imaginary.
A graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, François Delaroziere is artistic director of the company La Machine. He has always studied moving objects in the public space and their emotional impact. A designer, inventor and builder of sets and creations for street theatre, he has been designing and directing the manufacture of large-scale performance machines for over fifteen years.
