Catalogue of the exhibition Constellation Michael Kenna, presented at the Musée de la Photographie, Paris (18 October 2025 - 25 January 2026).
For more than fifty years, Michael Kenna, British photographer and tireless travelle has been exploring the world with rare sensitivity, capturing the imprint of time, the memory of places and the silent poetry of landscapes.
The exhibition brings together 124 silver gelatin prints, selected from a corpus of around 4,000 prints, representing the major series that punctuate his career: natural, urban and industrial landscapes of northern England and Detroit in the United States, France, Le Nôtre's gardens, mist-shrouded seashores, Nice, Venice and Italy, other European countries, the USA, the iconic trees of Japan, China, Thailand and Korea.
Twenty-one countries are represented, chosen from a total of forty-three in Kenna's geographical scope. The black-and-white prints convey a poetic and contemplative aesthetic, marked by great formal rigour. Michael Kenna often photographs at dawn, at night or in overcast weather, using long exposures that transform reality into a dreamlike vision.
