Born in 1909 in Switzerland, Janette Laverrière studied at the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule in Basel and trained in the office of her father, a famous architect. In 1931, she joined the agency of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann and married the decorator Maurice Pré, with whom she worked until 1945. At the 1937 International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Paris.

Separated from Maurice Pré, Janette Laverrière turns to economical and innovative furniture. From 1950, her work entered the collections of National Furniture. Her most important projects are the development of the presidential palace of Niamey and the Swiss Hospital of Paris.

In her work, covering a large part of the twentieth century, we find a quest for simplicity and a poetry that is particularly revealed in the mirrors that she never stopped creating from 1936 to today.
