Remember Me - Pinault Collection

Catalogue of the exhibition Remember Me, presented at the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection, Paris (7 October 2026 – 18 January 2027).

From heritage photography to contemporary imagery, from Gustave Le Gray to Cindy Sherman, from Dorothea Lange to Wolfgang Tillmans, via Man Ray and Louise Lawler, the Pinault Collection spans the entire history of the photographic medium. It also reflects all its aesthetics and techniques.

The works seem to make the same plea: to be recognised, looked at, and kept alive by the gaze of the other. For photography is not limited to capturing reality: it demands to be seen so as not to disappear.

This leporello unfolds like a free composition, to be explored in the manner of a fugue. Nearly two centuries of images resonate with one another, as if each image, deep down, were uttering the same words: ‘remember me’.
