Bruno Sassarone's Paris series offers an abstract approach to representing the city, while drawing on a direct relationship with reality, in line with modernist photography. However, it stands out thanks to the refinement achieved through digital retouching.

Shadow is an essential element in simplifying reality and dissociating the place from its traditional visual identification. The resulting purity allows for a radical transformation of the reproduction of Paris, going beyond the purely descriptive nature of photography.

At first glance, the observer perceives the contrast of the image as a whole, with only the clear lines standing out from the shadows. After a period of adjustment, the details of the shadowed areas reveal themselves, giving the photograph a second meaning and enriching its perception.

The vision of Paris is thus rediscovered, moving from shadow to abstraction. Sassarone's photographs go beyond the purely descriptive role of photography and offer an abstract and personal vision of Paris.

A talented photographer, he won the Grand Prix du Magazine Photo (cover) in 2006 and has exhibited at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (as winner of the SFR Jeunes Talents competition) and at Studio Harcourt Paris.
- The book features a preface by Aurore Clément, who discusses both her friendship with the artist and her interest in his work.
