The Galleria Borghese presents Picasso: La Scultura, Italy's first exhibition dedicated exclusively to the sculpture of Picasso, showing 56 works dating from 1905 to 1964, together with photographs and videos providing the context in which the sculptures were created.
The exhibition also outlines the impact of Picasso's visit to Rome and Naples in 1917 with fellow artist Jean Cocteau and composer Igor Stravinsky. It was during his trip to Italy that Picasso first viewed ancient Roman and Renaissance sculpture as well as works by Baroque master Bernini at the Borghese Gallery.
