Catalogue of the exhibition Giacometti Marwan / Obsessions, presented at the Institut Giacometti, Paris (21 October 2025 - 25 January 2026).
A unique dialogue between two artists —Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966) and MARWAN (1962–1972)— who, having chosen to create in countries other than their countries of birth—France and Germany—explore questions of modernity from two different cultural spaces: Europe and the Middle East.
Giacometti and MARWAN made the representation of the head the focus of a determined quest that underpinned their position as artists. This exhibition, the first joint presentation of their works, offers a cross-disciplinary conversation in which surrealism and MARWAN's early works (1962-1972), drawings, sculpted heads and portraits, respond to each other, affirming a strong link between plastic research and reflection on the human condition.
