Chagall - Collection of the Marc-Chagall National Museum in Nice

Written by the museum's curators, this album is an essential tribute to Marc Chagall (1887-1985), a painter who devoted his entire life to developing in painting a true poetic grammar of universal significance.

His entire body of work is imbued with his personal history, as well as biblical references, fairy tales, and daydreams, all of which are open to multiple interpretations. Most of his works are housed at the Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, a veritable treasure trove built during the artist's lifetime at the instigation of André Malraux to house the donation made by the painter to the French state.

The heart of the museum consists of the seventeen monumental works that form the cycle dedicated to the Biblical Message. The museum has also benefited from the loan of numerous masterpieces, and thanks to the support of Chagall's heirs, new acquisitions have enriched the collections.
