Exhibition catalogue In all modesty / Di Rosa Archipelago, presented at the Musée international des arts modestes (MIAM), Sète (4 feb. - 17 sept. 2017).
As Hervé Di Rosa - president and cofounder of MIAM in 2000 - likes to remind us, there are no modest artists, but modest collections and modest viewpoints.
Julie Crenn, the exhibition's curator, articulated these « modest viewpoints » in a prolific archipelago where cultures, geography, forms and languages interact.
Therefore this is not an exhibition of the artist Hervé Di Rosa, but, « in all modesty », a free and joyous stroll in his footsteps, through more than eighty works from all kinds of sources, in a generous disorder of acknowledged influences, affinities and friendships.
