Exhibition catalogue for Asian Perfumes. Traditional Olfactory Cultures from China to India, presented at the International Perfume Museum, Grasse (26 June 2026 – 3 January 2027).
Omnipresent throughout the Asian world, scents are integral to both the sacred and everyday life. Drawing on an inexhaustible repertoire of materials, these fragrances incorporate incense resins, fragrant woods, flowers and spices, musk and amber.
Spread across the continent through trade routes and cultural exchanges, these materials and olfactory practices have given rise to distinctive, refined and codified traditions, which have in turn inspired a rich body of artistic creation.
The International Perfume Museum in Grasse invites its visitors to discover the richness and sensitivity of traditional olfactory cultures in Asia, inexhaustible sources of fragrance creation in both the West and the East.
