For over 30 years, Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître have built up an exceptional collection of video art, one of the most significant privately held collections in France.

Tasja Langenbach, a renowned specialist in video art, was invited by macLYON to curate this exhibition. She has devised an exhibition itinerary in which emotion and sensibility run counter to the current practice of scrolling.

As keen art lovers, Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître decided, after several years of collecting more traditional artworks (paintings, prints, photography, etc.), to devote themselves exclusively to video art, thereby assembling a unique collection of works created between 1984 and 2025. This collection stands out for its distinctive vision. As travellers, curious and intuitive individuals, the Lemaîtres have, above all, made their selections based on emotional and personal preferences. Their perspective, characterised by a rare intellectual openness, has focused on works that address social, political and economic issues.
