This bilingual French-English publication showcases the artist's drawing work over the last five years, and is published to coincide with her exhibition at the Festival du Dessin d'Arles (April 12 - May 11, 2025), curated by Aline Pujo.
In the manner of a cadavre exquis, short interventions, comments and quotations by authors such as Marie NDiaye and journalist Vincent Josse, as well as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Marie-Laure Bernadac, Jean-Hubert Martin and artist Gloria Friedmann, will link a hundred drawings together like a red thread. These interventions are guided by a list of key words, such as “desire”, “quarrel” or “voluptuousness”, chosen by Annette Messager and which, according to her, are at the source of her work.
The book also includes two short, previously unpublished texts by the artist, and an introduction by curator Aline Pujo.
